In graph theory the shortest non contractible cycle is called the edge-width, in Riemannian geometry it is called the systole. 

Systolic inequalities investigare the most economical outfits that dress a given topology.

In this talk I will focus on a very simple two way street between continuous and discrete systolic inequalities.
