Abstract.

I will discuss a class of Gagliardo-Nirenberg type inequalities involving Coulomb-type energies and highlight the role of various critical exponents arising when restricting on radial functions, to prove new embedding theorems into Lebesgue spaces. These inequalities allow to set up a variational framework to find solutions to a class of nonlinear and nonlocal Schrödinger equations. 

The results I will deal with are contained in joint works with Jacopo Bellazzini, Marco Ghimenti, Vitaly Moroz and Jean Van Schaftingen.
