Ricci solitons are generalizations of Einstein metrics. They
are important partly because they are intimately related to the
behaviour of the Ricci flow. In this talk we will see how to
reformulate the Ricci soliton equation as a Hamiltonian system
assuming some symmetry conditions. This interpretation will allow us
to show that for a certain class of metrics, solving the Ricci soliton
equation is equivalent to finding rational points on a certain
ellipsoid.
