Geometric flows are ways to deform curves, surfaces and Riemannian manifolds into more symmetric objects. They are powerful tools that relate geometry and topology.

The Ricci flow is the most famous example, which allowed to solve the Poincaré conjecture.

We will give an introduction to these flows, focusing on the cases of curve shortening flow and Ricci flow on surfaces, which is a good introduction to the general setting.
